Blue Mountains Portraits – Finalist Exhibition

In January 2024, symbolic artist Kerry-Anne Knibbs was selected as a finalist in the Blue Mountains Portrait Awards 2024 exhibition at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre.

The exhibition celebrated portraiture by Blue Mountains artists, exploring identity, experience and storytelling through portrait art. Kerry-Anne’s portrait focused on youth, nostalgia and the changing nature of connection in a technology-driven world.

Portrait with Rose Coloured Glasses explores a sense of loss and longing experienced by some young people growing up in an increasingly digital world. Inspired by their fascination with the 1960s, 70s and 80s, the artwork reflects on a perceived era of deeper human connection, slower living and more personal interaction. Through the symbolism of rose-coloured glasses, the work invites reflection on the contrast between imagined nostalgia and the realities of contemporary life.
