Wild Things – Finalist Exhibition

In 2025, symbolic artist Kerry-Anne Knibbs was selected as a finalist in the Wild Things Exhibition presented by Art Lovers Australia in Melbourne.

Wild Things celebrated expressive contemporary art, exploring creativity, freedom and the untamed energy of the natural world.

Kerry-Anne exhibited works from her Black Birds Series, challenging traditional associations of black as a symbol of darkness and instead exploring themes of hope, transformation and resilience.

Her artwork Hope Tree was inspired by the story of Ravi and Alex, who operated a bird sanctuary in Western Sydney. When their sanctuary faced challenges due to nearby development, community support helped secure its relocation to Bargo, allowing their work with Australian birds to continue.

Featuring Black Cockatoos and centred around the symbolism of the Hope Tree, the artwork reflects themes of conservation, resilience and the importance of protecting these magnificent birds for future generations.
