It’s a sad reality that these ancient, revered birds are often reduced to the nickname "bin chickens." In truth, they are simply birds trying to survive in the concrete jungle we've created. They embody resilience, adaptation, and survival — traits that speak to the heart of what it means to thrive in a world that often overlooks quiet beauty. These birds are symbols of nature’s persistence, even in the face of overwhelming odds.
To truly understand their value, we need to look beyond surface impressions and into the rich mythology and symbolism surrounding them. In ancient cultures, birds were revered as messengers between the physical and spiritual worlds. The ibis, in particular, symbolises wisdom, transformation, knowledge, and communication with the divine.
But their symbolism doesn’t stop there — ibises are also associated with love, romance, and unity. That’s why I’ve titled this piece Lovey Dovey. It speaks to their gentle, affectionate nature, balancing their resilience with tenderness and connection.
In this artwork, I’ve embraced these dual aspects — the strength to endure and the grace to love. Lovey Dovey invites you to reflect on the unexpected places where love, harmony, and connection can take root. Even the most misunderstood beings can carry the deepest messages.
