Fly High – by Kerry-Anne Knibbs – Hello, and thank you for taking a closer look!

Birds are my symbolic language for higher spiritual meaning. Artworks are one of eight categories in the Feng Shui toolbox, used to attract positive energy and intentions.

Soft pastels are an aesthetic that is nothing new in interior design. Calm hues were popular as far back as the 18th century, used with abundance in decorative Rococo interiors. Rococo style is sometimes referred to as ‘Late Baroque’ and has always been famous for being in tune with the feminine and the light. This is certainly a modern and rustic take on a beautiful feminine light. Further to the colour and mood of this painting you will find the pink galah symbolises spirituality, freedom and empowerment. If you have dreams, the galah encourages us to fly high to achieve these dreams, and to be fearless and spontaneous along the journey. Be true to yourself and stand out from the flock; the spirit of the galah will always be with you.

Deep in the Forest – by Kerry-Anne Knibbs – Hello, and thank you for taking a closer look!

“Deep in the Forest Where Nobody Goes” is drawn from a line in a whimsical children’s song — not originally about lyrebirds, but a fitting reference nonetheless. Much like the mystery the song evokes, lyrebirds are elusive, shy creatures, rarely seen in the wild. Their presence is more often heard than witnessed — a hidden marvel of the forest.

Contrary to their misleading name, lyrebirds don’t “lie” — instead, they are extraordinary mimics, capable of imitating the calls of countless other species. They are storytellers and dancers of the bush, engaging in their signature ‘chicken scratching’ as they forage. In this, they symbolise communication, adaptability, and the joyful rhythm of life itself — a speaker of all languages and a dancer of life.

Spiritually, the lyrebird reminds us of our deep connection to nature, and the quiet reverence it deserves. Within the ecosystem, they play a crucial role, aiding in the forest’s renewal through constant composting and turning over of the soil — a natural steward of regeneration.

In symbolic tradition, the lyrebird and the peacock are seen as earthly counterparts of the Phoenix — one of the four celestial creatures in Feng Shui. The Phoenix embodies hope, renewal, and transformation — a rising from the ashes that speaks to the potential for joy and fortune after hardship.

This painting invites the viewer to reflect on nature’s wisdom, hidden beauty, and our own inner power to renew, adapt, and rise.
