Energy, the reason it’s so hard to define is because it’s not a thing, it’s a concept. (Sorry for the pun — it’s abstract!)
In physics, the idea of ‘energy’ is just a kind of shorthand, a tool we use to balance the books. Energy is always carried by something; there’s no physical “essence,” no such thing as “pure energy.” That alone is kind of mind-bending — and exactly what inspired this piece.
